Tim Friers

Hi, my name is Tim, co-founder of Writeful.me. I am an Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University and former Design and Media Director at Oxford University Press for 10 years. Before that, I spent 20 years as Head of Design for Macmillan Education and worked as a freelance designer for many London design consultancies. I have also worked with UTV, Christie's, Gower Medical, Friends of the Earth, Heinemann, Mansfield College, Turner Duckworth, Nestle and The Yellow Pencil Co.

I am a graphic designer, a printmaker, and a songwriter.

If there’s one thing that truly sets human beings apart in the animal kingdom, it’s storytelling. We tell stories through art, dance, poetry, music, and film. Humans have relied on storytelling for survival since the advent of communication, passing down crucial knowledge through generations. We see it in the cave paintings of early humans and the hieroglyphics of ancient tombs. Today, storytelling remains essential as it teaches, inspires, and even influences elections.

In an age dominated by the Internet and AI, stories are everywhere, but their authenticity is often difficult to verify. In the noise of the digital world, being heard can be a challenge. Now, more than ever, the individual voice matters not only in the creative process but also in fostering diverse perspectives and lived experiences.

We started Writeful.me to give a voice to creatives with stories to tell and to connect content creators with designers, production professionals and marketeers. We work with you directly or we use only the best freelancers from a pool of professionals who we know personally, or those who have been highly recommended to us. Hi, I’m Andy. I co-founded Writeful.me and have been working as a book designer for almost two decades.

With years of experience designing for trade, educational, scientific, medical, and academic publishers, I’ve worked with names like Oxford University Press, Wiley-Blackwell, Macmillan, Pearson, Taylor & Francis, Radcliffe Medical, and Scholastic. Since going freelance in 2006, I’ve created everything from book covers and interiors to logos, websites, marketing materials, social media ads, and album artwork.

At Writeful.me, we believe the creative industries need more voices, more diversity, and more access. Traditional publishing can be hard to break into—and in a competitive digital landscape, even harder to sustain. That’s why Writeful.me exists: to connect authors and creatives directly with publishing professionals.

Hi, I’m Sonia, co-founder of Writeful.me. My career began in Finance before evolving into team building and international project management at Brady Corporation, where I earned an award for customer service and client relations. I later became Director of AM Graphic Design Ltd, leading successful collaborations with publishers such as Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Richmond, Scholastic, and Tesol Education, as well as many self-published authors.

A lifelong book lover, I specialise in book formatting, typesetting, and text design—helping authors turn their words into professional, published books.
